Although it wasn't the worst Winter, we're glad to see Spring is finally here! Here's a little of what's been going on at BMO!

Ocoee . . . Take Four Bookmark this location of the page.

Open whitewater boaters take heart, the Ocoee is back! Originally released in Royalex by Dagger in 1996, the mold was sold to Bell Canoe Works in 2003, who continued to produce it in Royalex. When Ted Bell sold his company, Nova Craft Canoe of Canada purchased the mold and rights in 2013 and produced the Ocoee until Royalex was discontinued. Now the redesigned Ocoee is available from Northstar (Ted Bell's current company) and is being produced in IXP (Innegra & Aramid). Lighter and stiffer than Royalex and ready to hit the water!

Yak Attack BlackPak . . . Take Two (or is that Three?) Bookmark this location of the page.

After years of producing the popular BlackPak, Yak Attack has announced a complete redesign, including three sizes now instead of one. Here's a Youtube video highlighting all the improvements. And yes, it only comes in black (we never did get the "tan" BlackPak)!

Also new from YakAttack since our last newsletter, the nifty track mount Double Header (with or without Dual RotoGrip Paddle Holders) allowing mounting of paddles and other accessories off to the side, out of the way. And to make the RotoGrip Paddle Holders even more secure, a new "SnapNStrap" accessory.

Well, maybe this is a bad time to call it that! How about saying that the Bloody Mary, our 22' Voyageur style 8-man canoe is for sale after years of plying the Susquehanna with birthday “pirates”. Comes with trailer. $3,500, price firm. (Doug says he might not want to sell it after all, so guess you'd have to fight that out with him!)

Easier Ways to Move Your Boat Bookmark this location of the page.

Suspenz introduced the new EZ Roller V-Roof Rack this year, making it easier to load your boat from the rear of your car (especially if you're short like I am)! The rear round pads are actually rollers, enabling you to push the boat forward until contacting the non-rolling front pads. Hey, anything that makes it easier to get to the water is cool in my book!

Okay, we know we covered this last fall, but now that we've seen the actual final product we're excited enough to talk about it again! Replacing the popular Liquid Logic Marvels with sturdier hulls, an included work deck, cushier seat, and popping colors, we're confident these boats will rock this year. Available in 11' and 12' solos, and a 14.5' tandem. Come in and check them out!

Demise of Demo Day Bookmark this location of the page.

COVID 19 continues to affect so many things, and one of them is the probability that Demo Days have become a thing of the past. After a couple years of not having them, reps are indicating that they aren't planning to gear up and do the circuits, and many dealers also found that it was cost prohibitive. We do however offer two other ways to demo boats.

Our "Rent to Buy" program allows you to rent a boat and paddle it for a day as long as it is in our rental fleet. If you purchase a boat from us within 30 days of rental you will receive your rental fee back (less your shuttle cost). Bring some friends along and play musical boats and you'll all get a chance to try a few!

With our other program, Demo by Appointment, you can try up to 3 different boats for approx. 10 minutes each at a cost of $10 per boat. This fee can also be applied to purchase of a boat within 30 days.

Nova Craft Prospector 15 Fishing Machine Bookmark this location of the page.

Greg decided to use the cold weather to spend some time retrofitting his Nova Craft Prospector 15 canoe as a solo fishing boat. In addition to the center seat he added rod holders, cup holder, and an anchor trolley system. Now all he needs is some lower water to try it out!

Need a summer job? BMO is looking for hard-working people to join our staff for the busy summer season. Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays. Job description includes but is not limited to shuttling boats and clients to and from the water (vans and trailers), and loading, unloading, and washing boats, vans, trailers and gear, and basic maintenance. If you're a Jack of all trades that's a big plus; we do a little bit of everything here! Perks? Employee discounts on gear and boats and hanging out with the BMO Crew (at least we think that's a perk!)

Congratulations to Vern Graham who identified this device that never quite made it to market (at least we don't think so!) We were given this prototype many years ago to check out here at BMO and gave up trying to use it. But like most things, we couldn't throw it away either. According to the pending patent the final product was meant to be installed either through the deck of a kayak Sprayskirt or through the deck of the boat itself to enable a capsized paddler to breathe the air inside the kayak until rescued. (Word of advice: don't eat beans the night before!)
